Hike to Chitlang

Hike to Chitlang

Wish List Nepal Apr 24, 2020

Two days hike to Chitlang

It was the Saturday morning when we started our hike to Chitlang.  Not only the sun has risen, I along with 13 of others reached Thankot. We had some breakfast, bought some snacks and started the uphill hike to Chitlang. As informed by the local people, it would just take us 3 hours to reach our destination.

The first few hours was really amazing, everyone were so energetic and rushed to climb the uphill, but that energy didn’t last long. We were divided into two groups due to the speed we were walking, the ones with more stamina were already an hour front to those who had less stamina. Leech, didn’t allowed us to move happily, we had the fear that Leech might be on our body so we checked the whole body frequently. We even had carried few packets of salt to get rid of the blood sucking segmented worms.  We took a lot of photos during the hike. The trail from Thankot to the top of the hill got muddy, but the surroundings were also more scenic. We, my group, reached top of the champadevi hill after 3 hours of uphill hike.  We found a small hotel and thought of having a breakfast again. As said by the hotel owner, we would reach Chitlang after an hour of walk.

After 30 mins of waiting, the next group luckily met us. After another hour of hiking, which included steep climb, finally made it to our destination at 3 pm. Of the many things Chitlang is known for, few of them are the Goat cheese, homestay and the Asian pear tree. As we reached the Goat Cheese Farm, the place we were staying, and when I took of our shoes, most of us realized that leeches had had a field day. My feet was full of blood. We freshened up and sipped a cup of hot black tea that our host had prepared for us.  We then went to place where only pear tree was found. It provided the best view of that place and is also the most attractive part of Chitlang. Post dinner we had a barbeque with on musical environment and after few hours of dancing we went back to our rooms.

The next day was full of excitements. The high hills around Chitlang were covered with a thick fog. It took us almost 2 hours to reach the heaven like placed, Markhu. I along with two of my friends Ayush and Suraj, got lucky to explore the swing bridge, while the rest of my other friends were an hour behind and didn’t get chance to explore the bridge properly.  Boat trip at Indrasarowar was great moment to explore the area at pleasant pace. We had some snacks on the side of the Lake. We reached Kalanki Bazar after 2 hours of straight walk. We had to walk 2 hours from Kalamki Bazar to Dakshinkali to get into the microbus which was supposed to pick up to get back to our college. As planned, we found our college bus waiting for us at Dakshinkali. We could reach Lazmitpat for Thakali dinner, but unfortunately, we had to stay in a long queue to get rid of long traffic jam. After 4 hours of waiting, we went to Lazimpat to fill out our hungry stomach.  Finally, we returned back to our college with a wonderful memory and the adventurous story.
